Not normally one to mince his words, game developer David Cage hinted at what his company Quantic Dream has lined up for next-gen consoles.
It has been reported early this year that a title currently under the name Singularity is in the works by Quantic Dream. This mysterious project is supposed to be their first entry for the PlayStation 4 if we are to believe the registration of the domain SingularityPS4.com.
Upon talking about future plans, Cage was quoted in saying the following.
“New hardware provides new technologies that allow you to be more subtle. I know that some people are surprised by what we can do on PS3 with Beyond and we have heard many people even question whether this is a current-gen game. But trust me, if I showed you what we’re doing with the PS4, you would be amazed. It’s really surprising. It’s another world.”
“Another world” you say, Mr. Cage? Granted, almost everything the man works on is the second coming of Christ according to him but this could legitimately be promising. Remember the amazing tech demo simply titled “Kara” that was shown last year? Supposedly, this next-gen title will be based on the same, or similar, concept. Whether or not it will keep the same quick-time event heavy gameplay as Heavy Rain remains to be seen.
Beyond: Two Souls has also been under a watchful eye with questions still lingering on the gameplay. It does seem to stick with quick-time events for the most part like Heavy Rain, however, there will be free-moving sections involving the ghostly apparition who assists out heroine. Could Quantic Dream push the boundaries even further with “Singularity” as well? At the very least, it’s going to be tough topping Beyond’s production value. Seriously, that game has Willem effin’ Dafoe! There’s only one thing left to be said in regards to that.
