Nova Corps to make an appearance in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’

If you had any doubts just how far Marvel was planning to go in their more “spacey” approach for their Phase Two movies, you can put them to rest. There’s been a pretty reliable tip stating that we will see the intergalactic police force Nova Corps play a part in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy film.

Nova Corps to make an appearance in 'Guardians of the Galaxy'

This bit of news follows a comment director Kevin Feige made confirming that Guardians of the Galaxy will be “95% in space” and more of a standalone movie. With that in mind, it doesn’t seem too crazy having Richard Rider AKA Nova and his crew thrown into the mix. There’s also the fact that Nova and GotG leader Star Lord are good buddies. If we are to have these elements along with the possibility of Thanos as the main villain, we are in for a seriously stacked and exciting turn in the Marvel movie universe.

For anyone who is not in the know, the Nova Corps are the Marvel equivalent to DC’s Green Lantern Corps. In other words, they’re space cops. What makes them special is a power source they use called the Nova Force which is generated and controlled by a living computer called the Xandarian Worldmind. Each member is assigned a rank which also determines how much of this Nova Force they can access.

Let us know what you think of the Nova Corps being in a movie in the comments below!

  1. And so the prophecy of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 comes to pass…Nova and Rocket Raccoon are due for some more exposure, it seems — and if this movie does well, maybe they’ll be getting a lot more respect.

Cosmic swag + log traps? Sounds like a good time to me.

    • So true! I’m really curious to see how Rocky turns out since he will likely be completely CG. There’s also the question on who will be voicing him. Since you mentioned it, my vote goes to his UMvC3 actor.
