Mace Windu Returns? Samuel L. Jackson wishes to reprise role in new Star Wars films

With the next era of Star Wars movies coming upon us, there’s bound to be rumors thrown left and right on what or even who to expect. Until we have some official proof, we can take what the likes of Mark Hamill and George Lucas have to say with a grain of salt. Samuel L. Jackson though? Oh, you best believe we’re listening!

Samuel L. Jackson as Mace Windu

Jackson portrayed Jedi Master Mace Windu in the prequel trilogy. It was in Revenge of the Sith where we last saw him get his hand lopped off and sent through a window to his death. How would he fit in the mold then in the new films starting with Episode 7? Jackson makes the case below.

“He just went out the window. He’s a Jedi! He could have landed on a ledge.”

“It’s like, okay, Obi-Wan was dead when Episode IV started, so maybe everyone thinks I’m dead and we’ll find out what happened to Mace Windu. I can come back as one-armed or a one-handed Jedi that’s still around that didn’t actually die.”

“I could do that or be a ghost hologram. I don’t care. I just want to stay associated with the franchise. Not that I won’t because I’ve been in three of them.”

While those are all very plausible reasons, Jackson seems content being a part of the franchise in any capacity in case his character doesn’t return.

“Look, you don’t have to give me a part. All I need to do is put on one of those white fucking Stormtrooper outfits and run across the screen. I’ll know that I’m in it. Nobody needs to know, I don’t care. I just want to say, ‘I’m in that shit.’ I don’t have to have a credit. I don’t have to have anything. I’ll know!”

The man is committed! Hopefully when real talk on the script surfaces, we’ll see the Jedi Master return one way or another. I think if he was going to, it would have to be the ghost hologram idea considering how much time will have passed between Episode 3 and Episode 7. If we’re to see Mace Windu still alive and kicking, it might need to be some sort of spinoff film. Perhaps we can see more characters get that treatment as well namely the space bounty hunter Boba Fett.

Until then, the latest bit of Mace Windu we’ve been treated to was at the VGA awards. Samuel L. Jackson being the host was also implemented into nominated games such as The Walking Dead, Dishonored, and Angry Birds Star Wars (pictured below).

  2. It be awesome too see Samuel L Jackson return as Mace Windu, yeah he lost a hand and went out window, he’s a Jedi and he did most likely land on a ledge below as it was the building for the Senators, he then may of went into hiding and had medic doctor patch up his injuries and gave him a robotic hand like Anakin Skywalker and Luke Skywalker, he may then of done a hunt for his Lightsaber and see if he could get into contact with Master Yoda, Obi-wan Kenobi. Then maybe getting ambushed and knocked out and put into 35 year stasis pod and is accidentally awoken by a maid in a pirates pub and made an escape, discovering the new Jedi order and the downfall of the empire. If he did die, then yeah, become a ghost hologram and show yourself now again and guide the new heroes to victory, as Hamill, Ford and Fisher will return to reprise there rolls as Luke, Han and Leia.

If he lives and is unable to find his lightsaber, then maybe, he makes an appearance at the new Jedi Temple and Council and meet with Luke Skywalker and introduces himself and gains a new one as in his early ages, he had a Blue Lightsaber when he was a youngling and gained a purple lightsaber.

Come on JJ, is be fun too see another great Jedi Master Return as he was becoming one after Yoda.
