We’re back to take a look at the rest of the best iPhone games you NEED to download! Continuing from our first part, these other six titles may not be as well known but just as awesome all the same. Let’s take a look!
NOTE: Keep in mind that I have not played every game available in the App Store so there may be some glaring omissions (Infinity Blade for example). This is just a list of the ones I have personally experienced. Please respect the choices made and feel free to let us know your favorites in the comments below.
The Goal: Defend your clients by using your investigation and cross-examination skills in this courtroom “dramedy”.
One of the more unique mobile games available, Phoenix Wright has you in the role of a young lawyer as he’s thrust into one bizarre case after another. Each episode requires you to prove the innocence of your client by checking crime scenes, collecting evidence, and using them in the court to spot out holes during witness testimonies. There’s a lot of great humor coupled with some real brain-crunching moments that may require some “outside of the box” thinking.
The Goal: Fend off an endless wave of aliens from the top of a mountain.
Simple and familiar yet addicting all the same, Ziggurat has you battling back aliens as the last human on Earth. All that’s left is to take out as many as you can before becoming overwhelmed. This game has the best and, dare say, most epic music you’ll hear in the chiptune genre (check it out and download here). The 16-bit graphics goes along with it nicely also. Make no mistake, this game is challenging especially when nearing 100 kills. You’ll be surprised how tense it can get!
The Goal: Tear through the Demon Samurai Army as a lone ninja looking to avenge his sensei.
If you’d like an in-depth look at GoNinja, you can check out our original review. In short, this is an amazingly fun game that has you continuously running and slashing enemies. Avoid obstacles and use powerups such as the very handy protection bubble to keep going. The art is amazingly well done by talented Street Fighter artist Long Vo.
Ninjatown: Trees of Doom
The Goal: Climb and fling yourself as high up as you can go while avoiding enemies and a variety of deadly obstacles.
Keeping with the whole ninja theme, we present Ninjatown! Undoubtedly more “cutesy” than GoNinja, this game is more traditional of iPhone genres where you have to climb between two endless trees to get as high up as possible. If you are to download anything in the “vertical climber” genre, this is the one. There are a good number of unlockables and plenty of awesome items to use (moustache rides included *ahem*).
The Goal: Escape a creepy hospital by destroying the witch who inhabits it.
Without a doubt the most graphically amazing game on this list, Dark Meadow presents a creepy atmosphere that is surprising to find in a mobile game. You wake up in a hospital with no recollection how you got there. An old man speaks to you with warning of a witch who controls the minions looking to kill you. The combat is well done with swipes allowing you to swipe swords and pulling back to shoot a crossbow. You can purchase new weapons along the way to help battle the unsettling monsters you will come across.
Super Mega Worm
The Goal: Eat and destroy to grow large and gain strength to destroy the human race.
Another game with 16-bit graphics, Super Mega Worm has you aiming to “kill the human parasites”. You are Wojira, a great callback to old school Toho monsters, who is summoned by Mother Earth. The real hook to this game is the humor with all the great lines spewed by the little human characters and just the basic premise itself. I dare you to not laugh the first time you burrow into the ground only to leap out of it and smash a commercial airplane from the sky.
