All too often, the one thing that can give away that you’re an evil bastard is in the laugh. It could be anything between a cackling howl to a menacing snicker. Either way, we know you’re up to no good.
This Top 5 is a salute to those whose chuckles chill our bones. These laughs could be infectious enough to drives us into madness. Other times, they’re just so memorable that you can instantly spot it out. Without further delay, let’s roll out the laugh track!
5. Skeletor (He-Man and the Masters of the Universe)
The main baddie in the kingdom of Eternia had to be a part of this list. The cackling villain with a skull for a face is infamously known for his quick insults and penchant for magic. Although He-Man and his crew always put an end to Skeletor’s nefarious schemes, you know something is temporarily in his favor if you hear that echoing “Nya ha ha ha!”
4. Vincent Price (Thriller)
A classic! Vincent Price was a famous actor well-known for his distinguished voice. In Michael Jackson’s music video for the hit single “Thriller”, he provided a chilling narration that brought an extra sense of creepiness and old school horror charm. By the end of the song, we are treated to the iconic laugh that has been become as much a part of the video as the Thriller dance itself.
3. Sideshow Bob (The Simpsons)
Bart Simpson’s arch-nemesis has had his fair share of crack-ups in Simpsons history. Sideshow Bob probably had his most famous laugh (shown above), however, in the episode “Sideshow Bob Roberts” while running for mayor against Joe Quimby. Feeling confident that the race is all but won, he lets out the most diabolical sounding laugh that voice actor Kelsey Grammer has probably ever let out in his life. Those last two throaty cackles were what really cinched Bob on this list.
2. Iori Yagami (King of Fighters)
This wielder of purple flames was bound to let his obsession to kill lifelong rival Kyo Kusanagi drive him to madness. Although seemingly calm when not in a fight, Iori Yagami will waste no time to rip you to shreds if given the chance. Once he has done so, all that is left for you to hear is the deep and low chuckle that quickly roars into a maniacal fit of glee. Supposedly, he hates violence too. Go figure!
1. The Joker (Batman: The Animated Series)
Oh, come on. If you know me then this choice was a no-brainer. Mark Hamill’s legendary portrayal of the “Clown Prince of Crime” was birthed from the amazing Batman: The Animated Series and has carried on until his (supposedly) final performance in the video game Batman: Arkham City. I don’t personally believe this will be the last we hear this definitive performance of The Joker as long as the man has vocal chords that still work. The great thing about this iconic laugh is that it’s almost never the same each time! The video above does an excellent job showing how varied each one has been throughout the show. Mr. J, you did it again!
