Plot of New ‘Mortal Kombat’ Movie Revealed, Directed by ‘Mortal Kombat Legacy’ Creator

Remember that awesome Mortal Kombat Legacy web series that came out a year ago? If not, do yourself a favor and check it out here.

Now imagine if the original Mortal Kombat film back in 1995 looked like that. You won’t need to wonder much longer as Warner Bros. has decided to green-light a new entry in the movie franchise. It is scheduled for a 2013 release and Kevin Tancharoen, the man behind Mortal Kombat Legacy, will be sitting in the director’s chair. Not only that, we even have details on the plot below.

Kevin Tancharoen, creator of Mortal Kombat Legacy

Tancharoen, who is previously credited for music-based films Fame and Glee: The 3D Concert Movie, will finally be hands-on with a property he can get passionate about. After the amazing job he did with the Legacy web series under a small budget, it will be exciting to see what can be done with a budget reportedly at $40-50 billion.

The plot details revealed so far involves a supermarket employee discovering he has “otherworldly” (or is that “Outworldly”?) powers and must decide whether to use them for good or evil.

Okay… it doesn’t sound like the most compelling story so far. I trust there will be a lot more to it than that as more information arises. At the very least, the film ought to have some amazing visual effects if this cyborg ninja from Mortal Kombat Legacy is any indication.
